Our nurseries specialised in the propagation of cider apple and perry pear trees, we supplyied a large selection of first class trees of exceptional value and of interest to the artisan or craft cider-maker as well as varieties for the grower supplying the larger cider companies. Through the lifetime of our nurseries we provided over one million trees. The trees were grown on our own nurseries in Herefordshire using a wide range of rootstocks to suit all conditions. In the first year we planted certified rootstocks in virgin ground in order to produce the best trees, these were then budded with the chosen varierties in the summer. We cut the stocks back to the bud in late February, growing the trees on with care and attention to detail during the second growing season and by the end of each November the final, well feathered, maiden tree was ready for planting and begin cropping from the second year.

The range is superb with very wide selections of trees, shrubs, climbers, cottage garden perennials, roses, grasses and bedding plants. We grow what we can but we also deal with many specialist nurseries from Dorset and the south west.

All our garden centre staff are keen gardeners and know how to look after and nurture plants which means we have very healthy plants and can provide customers with top quality advice. Combine this expertise with our knowledge of the horticultural industry and the result is an amazing selection of plants at good value for money.

If you consider yourself a novice gardener we can help with all the advice you need whereas if you are already an experienced gardener you will be able to find interesting plants in our range to make your garden distinctive. Whilst here why not enjoy a tour of our rapidly developing gardens to be inspired, take in the scents and see some very unusual plants. Bird Care. Here at Holme we get huge pleasure from feeding the wild birds around the pond.

This autumn and winter along with our already extensive range of bird food and feeders, we have some new additions. Winter warmer energy mix is a special seed blend giving birds the essential energy for the cold season and enriched with extra vitamins. Also there is a squirrel proof mix of hot pepper flavour seed, which the birds cannot taste but the squirrels can, and thus will not eat.

We have extended the range of the hugely popular Flutter Butter jars and feeders with some stylish wooden holders that will bring in the birds, and enhance the look of your wildlife feeding station. The Romance of Roses. At Holme we love roses and put a great deal of time and thought into developing the range we offer.

Krissi, our resident Rose expert and Simon sit down together for a whole day to look through catalogues and vigorously discuss the merits and shortcomings of each variety.

The roses are rated on beauty, shape, style, flowering time, disease resistance and of course scent. This year nearly 50 varieties have gone and the range has been broadened to varieties in total.

These are all excellent forms but Krissi and Simon have gone a stage further and selected 25 deemed to be of exceptional merit and possessed of outstanding qualities in terms of beauty, scent, repeat flowering and health. This new range and all the other varieties will be available from mid-November.

Pots and Terracotta. Add colour and design to your outdoor space with a pot from Holme for Gardens. We always have a great range of traditional, clay, glazed, terracotta pots in stock to suit every garden. From Errington Reay to Pots of Distinction, come and ask the experts for the best way to brighten up your garden, any time of the year.

All the Farm shop goodies and gift ware stock has already been reserved, some as early as January this year! Other gardening products. We also stock gardening tools, watering equipment and a lovely range of giftware and cards. A trip to Holme is something special, a chance to relax, to be inspired by the plants, be welcomed by friendly staff and to enjoy the lovely country side location.
